Sometimes, a glamorous career conceals some of the darkest tales. Lolo Jones, who won both USA championships as well as the World Championships in hurdle events was able to achieve her position with a lot struggle as well as a lot of perseverance. Jones was the only child of a five-child family, and grew up in a very poor environment. Her mother was always shifting and even was a resident within the basement. Jones needed to go to an entirely new high school every year because of her nomadic background. Jones left her mom to Theodore Roosevelt in order for her to focus on her passion for track. She lived at four different houses during her years of high school so that she could study all in the same place. Jones received the Gatorade Iowa Track and Field Award for the Best Athlete during her time at school. She also was an active member of the school orchestra as cellist.
